Off road motorcycles are without a doubt the best form of transport for this mountainous and forested region. many people rent motorbikes in Chiang Mai or Pai and ride into Pangmapha just for this pursuit.
Andy (owners husband of The Border bar) as been riding motorbikes in Thailand and most of all Pangmapha for over 10 years and there isn't a trails or track he doesn't know about. Visiting the numerous hill tribes is one of the reasons many people travel to Soppong and you are able to visit the Lisu, lahu and Karen Hilltribe who live in this region.
How you visit the hill tribes is dependent on your energy levels if you are walking or your mode of transport as the best villages are not always easy to get to.

Tham lod cave is without doubt the most popular attraction in Soppong and just one of a hundreds of caves located in this region.
Go in the early evening before sunset to watch the Birds entering the cave and the bats exiting in their millions!
Getting to Tham Lod cave if you do not have transport is by a local Moto Taxi situated directly opposite The Border Bar.
